Product information

Therapeutic use

Treatment of bacterial infections

Used for treating a range of bacterial infections, particularly those involving the respiratory tract, urinary tract, ear, and gastrointestinal system.

Broad-spectrum activity

Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including beta-lactamase–producing bacteria.

How it works

Mechanism of action

Cefixime is a third-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in bacterial cell lysis and death. It is stable against many beta-lactamases, allowing activity against resistant strains.
